His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama will lead a public conversation on “The Pursuit of Happiness” with other world religious leaders October 17, 2010, 1:30-3:30 p.m., on the Emory University Campus. CSLR is hosting the event as the capstone of its multi-year research project on the Pursuit of Happiness. It is one of several events featuring His Holiness during his October 17-19, 2010 visit to Emory.
An Emory Presidential Distinguished Professor, the Dalai Lama will open the forum with a 25-minute address followed by responses from The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church; Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth; and George Washington University Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a distinguished scholar of Islam.
Krista Tippett, host and producer of the award winning public radio program On Being, will moderate a discussion among the speakers immediately following their formal presentations.
Those attending this event should plan to arrive near noon. Parking is available in the Lowergate South lot.

Krista Tippett will moderate a discussion among Pursuit of Happiness project scholars about their reflections on the Dalai Lama's interfaith dialogue.

HAPPINESS IN INTERRELIGIOUS PERSPECTIVE
Monday, October 18, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Emory University School of Law
Rabbi Sacks, Bishop Jefferts Schori, Professor Nasr, and the Venerable Matthieu Ricard, a renowned Buddhist teacher and author, will be featured in a major academic conference at Emory Law School on “The Pursuit of Happiness in Interreligious Perspective.” Each will offer a full academic address on the meaning and measure of happiness in the Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and Buddhist traditions respectively. Each address will be followed by a panel discussion with some of the CSLR’s leading senior fellows.
