New An-Na`im Book Focuses on Shari`a in Middle East, Europe

CSLR Senior Fellow Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na`im has published Shari`a and the Secular State in the Middle East and Europe (with contributions from Wolfgang Schäuble and Dieter Grimm). The book is part of a joint lecture with Schäuble (Islam and German Religious Constitutional Law) as part of the Third Carl Heinrich Becker Lecture Series. The lectures were held in Berlin, Germany in May, 2009 and are printed in both English and German in this volume. An-Na`im, Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law, published his signature book on this topic, Islam and the Secular State: Negotiating the Future of Shari`a (Harvard University Press) in 2008.
