Michael S. Berger is an expert on religious authority and ethics in Judaism as well as the social and historical context for legal thinking.

MICHAEL S. BERGER is associate professor of religion at Emory University. He is the author of Rabbinic Authority and edited The Emergence of Ethical Man based on the writings of the late Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Berger's scholarship and research focus on issues of religious authority and ethics in Judaism, as well as the social and historical context for legal thinking. He received a Lady Davis Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Hebrew University, Israel, and was granted ordination by Yeshivat Har Etzion.
