Law and Religion Moot Court

The Center trains and supports teams competing in two to three law-and-religion moot court competitions each year. Our teams have won championship titles nationally and internationally, and several of our students have been recognized as outstanding oralists. In the past, Center students have competed at Touro Law Center in New York, at the University of Notre Dame, and in Venice.

Law and Religion Moot Court is open to 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs. It is helpful, but not required, to have taken courses in law and religion. Tryouts are generally held early in the fall semester, but special tryouts may be held for new competitions. The best way to learn about tryouts is to sign up for our student newsletter. Contact Patti Ghezzi at pghezzi@emory.edu to be added to our newsletter distribution list.

Research Assistants

CSLR students have worked as RAs on a variety of projects for Dr. Goldfeder as part of the Restoring Religious Freedom Project.

Internships and Externships

CSLR students have received real-world experience through internships and externships at law firms and nonprofit organizations specializing in religious freedom work.

Grants

Students with a demonstrated commitment to a career in law and religion may apply for grants through the Restoring Religious Freedom Project Summer Grant Program. Awards up to $5,000 enable students to accept an unpaid summer position with a firm, think tank, government agency, or nonprofit organization specializing in work related to law and religion.
