Witte to deliver Jefferson Lecture at Berkeley

CSLR Director John Witte, Jr. will deliver the prestigious Jefferson Memorial Lecture at the University of California, Berkeley, April 21. He will focus on Islamic law and democracy in a lecture titled, "Shari`a and the West? What Place for Religious Legal Systems in America and Other Democracies."
The Jefferson Memorial Lecture is one seven Berkeley lectureship programs that has brought highly distinguished speakers to the campus since 1909. Topics range from philosophy to the sciences. Among previous lecturers are John Dewey, Edwin Hubble, and Robert Oppenheimer. More information.
