Silas W. Allard and T. Brian Green graduated from Emory University's Center for the Study of Law and Religion May 9. Each received a Doctorate of Law from Emory Law and a Master of Theological Studies from Candler School of Theology.

Emory awarded Allard the 2011 Marion Luther Brittain Award for service, the highest student honor presented by the university. Also, Candler awarded Allard the Myki Mobley award for his academic excellence and significant social concern.

Green received the prestigious Savage-Lebey Scholarship in Law and Religion in recognition of his public interest service.

Both received the Herman Dooyeweerd Prize in Law and Religion in recognition of their outstanding academic records, as well as the Eliza Ellison Prize for Leadership in Law and Religion.

The Dooyeweerd Prize was created in 1994 in honor of the distinguished 20th century Dutch jurist, theologian, and philosopher, Herman Dooyeweerd.  The award, made possible by the generosity of the Dooyeweerd Society, is granted to graduating joint degree candidates who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The Eliza Ellison Prize for Leadership in Law and Religion was created in 2009 in honor of the long-standing Associate Director and then Director of Publications of the Center, Eliza Ellison.  The award, made possible by the generosity of the faculty, staff, current students, alumni, and friends of the Center, is awarded to a joint degree graduate who has shown special initiative in leading law and religion studies within and beyond the classroom
