Cambridge University Press has published God and the Illegal Alien, the most recent title in the Law and Christianity series edited by John Witte Jr. In the book, Robert W. Heimburger, Associate Chaplain at Oxford Pastorate, Associate Researcher at Seminario Bíblico de Colombia (FUSBC), and Editor at IFES Word & World, examines illegal immigration in the United States. Despite their illegal status, these migrants fill a need for inexpensive labor and contribute to their communities. Heimburger questions how law enforcement can approach immigration with Christian ethics. The book also tracks the emergence of the the illegal alien in federal law and explores Christian perspectives on belonging, government, and relationships with neighbors.
