On February 22, 2024, the CSLR welcomed Dr. Nadav S. Berman for a lunchtime lecture on “Jewish Law and Privacy Protection in the Digital Age.” Berman is scholar of Jewish Thought and Philosophy, and is currently a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Haifa.
Whitney Barth, Executive Director and Charlotte McDaniel Scholar at CSLR opened the event before giving the floor to Dr. Berman. Berman’s lecture explored how Jewish law and tradition’s emphasis on “orthopraxy” and the theology of the Pentateuch have ramifications for current debates about technology and privacy protection.
Berman’s lecture was followed by a pair of animated responses by panelists Professor Michael J. Broyde, Director of the SJD Program, and Berman Projects Director at the CSLR, and CSLR Senior Fellow Professor Hallie Ludsin. The event concluded with a lively Q&A.
