The CSLR is excited to share that John Witte, Jr. has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS). Founded in 1780, AAAS “honors excellence and convenes leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together ‘to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honor, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people.’” You can read more about AAAS, its distinguished members, and its work here.

Election to AAAS is a high honor. John is a world-renowned scholar in the field of law and religion, a distinguished leader within our Center and the broader Emory Law/Emory University communities, and a much beloved teacher and mentor. Congratulations to John on this prestigious and much deserved accolade!
