CSLR Hosts Webinar: "On the Nature and End of Law"
At 9:00 on the morning of Thursday, September 4, The Center for the Study of Law and Religion was pleased to host an international audience and collection of scholars for an online webinar. Opening the virtual event, Whittney Barth the Executive Director and Charlotte McDaniel Scholar at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion welcomed guests and presented the webinar, "On the Nature and End of Law: Theological, Philosophical and Juridical Discourses.” Following her remarks, John Bernau, the Center’s Director of Digital Scholarship, introduced moderator Pamela Slotte Russo of the University of Helsinki and Åbo Akademi University.
Under Russo’s direction the webinar featured presentations by contributors to the recent special issue of Studio Theologica - Nordic Journal of Theology. The special issue, edited by Prof. Pamela Slotte Russo, features discussions of the nature and end of law from different perspectives, including theological, philosophical, and juridical conceptions of law, positive law, religious law, secular law, among others. Following the presentations, audience members took advantage of the opportunity to pose questions to the presenters during a robust Q&A session before the events conclusion.
