Yasemin Çelikhası is completing her PhD in Islamic Law at the Institute of Social Sciences at Istanbul University. Her dissertation research focuses on modern applications of Islamic family law, specifically within the United States. She is currently a part of a team of researchers based in Turkey who are working on a study examining Islamic law and contemporary mediation and arbitration practices in several countries around the world. She earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Law and a Bachelor of Science from Marmara University Faculty of Theology. As a research assistant at Istanbul University, she also teaches different subjects within Islamic Law.
