Rachael Orbeta is a 3rd year PhD student in the Comparative Literature Department at Emory University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Art in English in 2019. In her undergraduate studies, Rachael focused on rhetoric and composition with an interest in contemporary American literature. After teaching 9th and 11th grade English from 2019 to 2021, she began her graduate education at Emory. Her research focuses on literary theory, gender and sexuality studies, deconstruction, and Latinx literature. Alongside her graduate studies, Rachael is an editorial assistant for Canopy Forum and the Journal of Law and Religion at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion.
