Mónica García-Salmones Rovira

Mónica García-Salmones Rovira, Assistant Professor in Foundations of Law at Maastricht University, Netherlands. She holds a LLD in international law from Helsinki University. Her scholarship focuses in international legal theory, international law and philosophy and history of international law. In particular, her work has explored the bias of positivist legal theory in international law towards an economic conception of law during the 20th century and the substantive principles that structure contemporary global legal order in The Project of Positivism in International Law (OUP, 2013). Her last book, The Necessity of Nature (CUP, 2023) is a critical analysis of modern English natural law, drawing on the history of science and economics, theology and political and legal theory. Her work in the area of law and religion will deal with the concept of nature in contemporary international law and legal theory.
