Joel B. Kemp, Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. He holds a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Boston College; an M.Div. from Andover Newton Theological School; a J.D. from Harvard Law School; and an A.B. from Harvard College. Prof. Kemp serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cornerstone Ministries, Inc. and is the President and Founder of Just Enough Light Institute, LLC (JEL Institute) – an institute created to provide insightful and inspirational engagement of biblical Hebrew to Christian leaders, seminarians, and laity. His research in biblical studies explores the “latter prophets,” biblical law, the use of the Bible in popular culture, African-American interpretations of Scripture, and the history of identity formation in ancient Judah. His work in law and religion also examines the relationship between race, religion, and law within American society.
