Pamela Slotte Russo

Pamela Slotte Russo, Professor of Religion and Law at Åbo Akademi University, Finland; affiliated senior research fellow at the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights and Vice-director of the Center of Excellence in Law, Identity and the European Narratives at the University of Helsinki, Finland; member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Slotte Russo has received grants from the Research Council of Finland, including a postdoctoral fellowship and an academy research fellowship. She has served as principal investigator in the HERA-funded project “Protestant Legacies in Nordic Law: Uses of the Past in the Construction of the Secularity of Law” (2016-2019). Her scholarship has explored the intersectional relationships between law, ethics, and religion utilizing modalities adopted from critical legal studies, political theology, intellectual history, and postcolonial studies. Her work in the area of law and religion has explored how differing ideas about religious and non-religious life-ways structure national and international legal reasoning as well as human rights discourse.
