Associate Director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Muslim Chaplain, Macalester College

Dr. Rahimjon Abdugafurov is the Associate Director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Muslim Chaplain at Macalester College. As a senior fellow at the CSLR, Abdugafurov conducts research on Islamic Mysticism from the perspective of Religious Humanism, Islamic Law with a focus on women’s rights, and Muslim relations with non-Muslims. He has published on a variety of Islamic legal themes, Islamic Humanism, Islamic Theology of Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, and Women and Higher Education in Central Asia. He has taught courses on Islamic Law, Central Asia and Afghanistan, in addition to Arabic language courses.
